A glossary of mnemonics, abbervations and special terms used in Hamlet Evaluation System (HES) and Operation Analysis System (OPSANAL) systems.

• ASDPA&E: Assistant Secretary of Defense (Program Analysis and Evaluation). The entity that developed the Hamlet Evaluation System (HES).
• DSA: District Senior Advisor. Entity that filled in questionnaire for hamlets in a district.
• DMA: Data Managment Agency.
• MACCORDS: Military Assistance Command, Civil Operations and Rural Development Support
• PSA: Province Senior Advisor. Labeled as "Province HQ" in some flowcharts.
• FWMAF: Free World Military Assistance Forces
• GVN: Govermnent of Vietnam
• RVN: Republic of Vietnam (i.e. South Vietnam)
