QTAB

The Hamlet Evaluation System (HES) Question Directory Table (QTAB) is a dynamic table of questions used in HES.

The QTAB' is actually a module, or set of records, which describes the current composition of the HES question set and those portions of the HES file directly related to the question set.

Records

Following records of the HES Basic Master File are related to the QTAB functionality:

QTAB Summary Record

There are four kinds of questions:

  1. Village monthly
  2. Village quarterly
  3. Hamlet monthly
  4. Hamlet quarterly

The QTAB Summary Record contains the number of active and inactive topic groups, the number of active and inactive questions as well as the count of active and inactive models.

This seems to be important for reading other QTAB records:

The counts provided in this record are utilized as delimiters in reading and tabulating data elements stored in the QTAB directory table.

QTAB Detail Records

There are four of these records:

They list the high number of response for all questions in the topic gorup.

QTAB Question Description Records

Describe questions and possible responses.

QTAB Model Description Records

Describes the HES models.

QTAB Conditional Probability Estimate Records

One record for each question response. Contains numbers that are used in the computation of ratings.

Topic Groups

Topic Groups are sets of questions organized by topics with a maximum of ten questions per topic group. Thirty-four groups comprise the total HES question set.
